Activity 1: learning outcomes checklist

Answer
Action?

1.    Are you happy that outcomes, as currently expressed, reflect what you would want your students to be able to do, think or feel by the end of their course of study?

2.    To which domains do your learning outcomes belong—doing (psychomotor), thinking (cognitive) and/or feeling (affective)?

3.    Is the balance of learning outcomes across domains appropriate for the type of programme/course you are teaching?

4.    Are the outcomes expressed appropriately:
  • Are they written in the future tense?
  • Are they clear and concise?
  • Are they limited in number?
  • Do they use relevant verbs?
  • Do they specify an appropriate level of learning?

5.    Are you confident that the outcomes ‘fit’ with the level descriptors of the award or programme/course?
